Friends! Today is momentous! i have undertaken another life goal!

You know i luuuuuuvvvv to read. While i read all the time, i wouldn't claim to be well read (maybe something i'd consider when it comes to the sci fi aisles of the bookstore). Sooooo, i'm embarking on a journey to complete the "1001 Books You Should Read Before You Die" list (or at least try to read each). *nerd alert* Yes, i'm VERY excited!

To date, i'm saddened to report that i've read only 17 of the books on the list. So paltry compared to all the books i've read in my lifetime. More than 500 sitting around the house and while i've read some really great stuff (yes, some of those tawdry romances do count in that category), they don't put a dent in the books "you should" read. Wonder how i'll feel when i've gotten through some of them - no doubt wonder how they made it on the list.

It doesn't include others i would like to add such as Dune by Frank Herbert (yes, Hubbie... need to read this one), Charlie & the Chocolate factory by Roald Dahl, Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery (all girls should read this one! you just can't be a kindred spirit if you haven't! want to read it again!), and of course, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. So the tally so far is 1007, of which i've read 21.

Now, you'd think having worked in a bookstore for years that i would have picked up some of these books. Sure, i picked 'em up alright, to ring 'em up and bag 'em. i guess in the high-school / college years, serious books just aren't fun - get enough of those in school. Better late than never.

Nice list of book list options, should you too like to embark upon this journey.

Hi ho, hi ho, off to the library i go! Think i'll start with a Margaret Atwood.
